Your generosity to Maui families helped make their Christmases a little merrier

Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas as you celebrate the true meaning of the season — the birth of Jesus Christ and his message to love the Lord with all our hearts.

I’m so grateful for your kindness and support this past year, especially the generosity you showed toward my nonprofit We Must Protect as we helped Maui families displaced by the tragic fires in August.

Most recently, we worked with Kai and Molly Lenny on Maui to organize holiday events for Lahaina families to make their Christmases a little merrier — and we couldn’t have done it without your support.

We fundraised and collected donations to distribute food, supplies, toiletries, Christmas gifts for children, more than 1,000 homemade cookies, and $100 Visa gift cards for 508 families, 401 teachers serving the Lahaina school district, and West Maui first responders, including 48 firefighters, 40 police officers, and 12 EMTs.

I also want to thank Glenn Beck and his nonprofit Mercury One for donating $25,000 to our Maui families in need this Christmas season. Mahalo!

Here’s a short video filled with smiling faces and warm hearts, as volunteers from We Must Protect, Maui Pono, Positively Kai, Maui Food Bank, and Maui Preparatory Academy worked together at a drive-through event to distribute gifts, goods, and Christmas cheer.
