Why Bees Are Vital To Our Existence

It’s a rare opportunity to step into a beehive and see the incredible work that bees do, their various roles and responsibilities, their relationships with one another, and their selfless commitment to the colony.

Tulsi recently spoke with the world’s most-followed beekeeper, Erika Thompson of Austin, Texas, who feels fortunate to be in the position of sharing the wonders of bees with hundreds of millions of people.

There are more than 20,000 species of bees, and they are responsible for one out of every three bites we take. Each honeybee colony is its own superorganism with a queen bee at its heart and a fascinating story of mostly females who keep the entire operation running smoothly.

On the latest episode of The Tulsi Gabbard Show, you’ll learn about all this and more with a glimpse into hive life and the beautiful, complicated, threatened existence of a bee. Why are these creatures so essential to our food, our ecosystem, our survival, and how we can protect them? Listen now to find out — wherever you get your podcasts!

Not to detract from the importance of honey bees, but many crops are pollinated by bats and even mosquitos.
